President – Resident

The President is the Chair and presides at meetings of the Governing Board. He or she exercises general charge and supervision of the affairs of the Chapter, and performs other duties as assigned to him or her by the Congress of Residents & Students, Governing Board, or the ACOEP Board of Directors.

The President serves a two-year term during which one year he or she acts as the Resident Representative on the ACOEP Board of Directors and the second year he or she serves as the Past President. He or she will also serve on the ACOEP Resident Student Advisory Committee. The President must hold a position on the RSO governing board for a minimum of one year prior to election.

Director of Student Affairs – Student

The Director of Student Affairs exercises general charge and supervision of the student affairs of the Chapter, and performs other duties as assigned to him or her by the Congress of Residents & Students, Governing Board, or the ACOEP Board of Directors.

The Director serves a two-year term during the first year he or she acts as the Student Representative on the ACOEP Board of Directors and serves as the liaison for local chapter presidents. The second year of the term will be spent as the Past Director of Student Affairs. He or she will also serve on the ACOEP Resident Student Advisory Committee. The Director of Student Affairs must hold a position on the RSO governing board for a minimum of one year prior to election.

Vice President – Resident

In the absence of the President, or in the event of his or her disability, the Vice President will perform those duties, and possess and exercise the powers and duties as the Congress of Residents & Students, Governing Board, or ACOEP may determine. The Vice President will also serve as the liaison for residency program representatives and overseeing the RSO Publications Committee.

The Vice President will serve a one-year term. The President-Elect must hold a position on the governing board for a minimum of one year prior to election. He or she will also serve on the ACOEP Resident Student Advisory Committee.

Secretary – Student

The Secretary will be responsible for the creation of minutes and other documents, as determined by the Congress of Residents & Students. All correspondence will be issued in conjunction with and through the ACOEP National Office, under his or her name. The Secretary will also be responsible for overseeing the RSO publications committee, including reviewing submissions to the The Fast Track. He or she will also serve on the ACOEP Publications committee.

The Secretary will serve a one-year term.

Treasurer – Resident

The Treasurer will be responsible for the creation and submission of the budget and funding requests to the Finance Committee of the ACOEP. He or she will have the authority to direct purchases required to conduct the business of the RSO.

The Treasurer will serve a one-year term, during which time he or she will hold a voting position on the Finance Committee of the ACOEP. He or she will also serve on the ACOEP Resident Student Advisory Committee.

Past President – Resident

The Past President will be responsible for mentoring and assisting the current President in their duties. He or she will also serve on the ACOEP Resident Student Advisory Committee and the New Physicians in Practice Committee. This not an elected position as it is the second half of the President’s two year term.

Immediate Past Director of Student Affairs – Student

The Past Director of Student Affairs will be responsible for mentoring and assisting the current Director of Student Affairs in their duties. He or she will also oversee the annual Student Leadership Academy and serve on the ACOEP Resident Student Advisory Committee. This is not an elected position as it is the second half of the Director of Student Affair’s two year term.

Publications Co-Chairs

The Publications co-chairs will work directly with ACOEP’s RSO Vice President in the production of all ACOEP RSO printed, digital, and social media. Their primary focus will be to produce the quarterly publication of The Fast Track and manage delivery of this content across all social media platforms. Members will serve on ACOEP’s Media Services Committee. Four positions are available: two are available for residents and two are available to students.

Conference Co-Chairs

The Conference co-chairs will work directly with the RSO Coordinator and all together to plan all conference events offered by the ACOEP RSO, including two annual conferences and the regional student symposiums. Members will serve on ACOEP’s CME Committee.  Four positions are available: two are available for residents and two are available to students. For the resident positions, co-chairs are responsible for planning RSO Scientific Assembly events as well as assisting with student programming at Spring Seminar. For the student positions, one co-chair will help organize ACOEP’s Spring Seminar and Scientific Assembly, while the other co-chair will organize the RSO’s regional student symposiums.

GME Chair – Student

The GME chair will work directly with the RSO Coordinator on the annual Residency Expo and Residency Speed Dating Lunch offered at Scientific Assembly. Their primary focus will be to recruit programs for this event and coordinate the details of the event along with the ACOEP office staff.

Research Chair – Resident

The Research Chair will serve as a resource for members of the ACOEP RSO in regards to research and fellowship opportunities. They will serve on the Foundation of Osteopathic Emergency Medicine (FOEM) Board and ACOEP’s Research Committee.
